The Ministry has launched a new scheme called “Tracing the Roots” in October 2008. Under this scheme, the Ministry facilitates PIOs in tracing their roots in India.

For this purpose, the Ministry has signed an MOU with an organization called “Indiroots”.

PIOs, who intend to trace the roots of their ancestors in India, have to apply in a prescribed form through the Indian Mission/Post in the country of their residence.
